GIRLS/BOYS NIGHT WITH JESUS

A little over Three years ago the teachers in Harvest House under the able and dynamic leadership of Uzo Ojimadu, deliberated on the need to devise a Forum where our children can fellowship and interact in a free and informal atmosphere while at the same time enjoy the faith we profess more

sThe need to have such a Forum was borne out of the obvious problem of stiffness in interpersonal relationship among the teens.  A few of the teens that attempted to break out to be friendlier met a wall of silence and sometimes indifference from their peers. We equally found out that a handful of the teens were bottling up issues even from their parents.

Uzo Ojimadu (God bless him) decided to convene the first meeting at his house where a few teens (boys) numbering no more than 10 gathered with a few teachers on a Friday night to start, what we have now called “Boys Night with Jesus” or “Girls Night with Jesus” (as the case may be).  The first meeting was a combination of listening to a Ministration on T.V and then discussing how it affects the children.  Other issues such as Academics, Family life, Personal and Emotional challenges were also discussed and possible solutions offered.  Teachers also gave account of their own lives and answered any questions that the children may have.  The session was rounded up with prayers and a light refreshment.  Of course, there were other guy issues which I will not bore you with.

Since that first meeting, we have had no less than 6 of such meetings and we aim to have one every quarter, God willing.  Also the girls now have their own Night with Jesus ably coordinated by the female teachers. For effective results, the programme is now organized on an age group basis (i.e. 14 – 16 and 17 – 19).

AIMS OF BOYS/GIRLS NIGHT WITH JESUS:

1.             To teach our children the Word of God in a less tense and formal environment and help them understand the faith they profess.

2.             To provide an informal, relaxed Forum where teens can fellowship with one another and discuss various issues of life which they would otherwise not discuss in a Church setting or even with their parents at home or in the presence of the opposite sex.

3.             To get to know the teens a bit better and in that wise guide them through the various challenges they face in life.

4.             To break down the barriers of social interaction by creating an avenue where they can relate with one another, which in turn will help them, relate better in Church.

CONCEIVING “THE ARK”
HOME OF HARVEST HOUSE

When one thinks of “THE ARK” what readily comes to mind is the Biblical “Noah’s Ark” and rightly so!  Indeed the “THE ARK” as the Home of Harvest House draws its name from that famous Ark, Noah built at God’s Command so many years ago.  That was the time God destroyed the earth because of man’s unrighteousness but preserved only those in the Ark – Man and Animals.

“THE ARK”, the Home of Harvest House is conceived in a slightly different form today, and for that conception we pay homage to ADONYE LONGJOHN and our Friend and mentor, UZO OJIMADU, who conceived the name and the design you see on the signage.

What then does “THE ARK” represent? It represents a lot of things and can mean different things for different people: a safe Haven, a place that gathers together the future of our Nation and the Armies for Soul Winning into Christendom.  It is also a place of Refuge, a gathering of different people from different backgrounds all coming together, united with one purpose, to Celebrate Jesus.

But our safe Haven “THE ARK” is not to shield us from fulfilling our calling as Christians, far from it.  The safe Haven is the promise that whoever chooses to fellowship with us, is assured of our listening ear, of  our prayers, of our love, of our friendship, but above all, of  the joy that knows no End.  The joy of the Salvation offered by Jesus.

Yes! we are the ones God has chosen to be  in “THE ARK” and from the Ark, to go out into the World and live and share the Faith we profess.
So when you enter “THE ARK” whether as a teen or as a Guest or just to use as a place to have your meetings, remember one thing:
THE ARK symbolizes protection, a shield, a covering but above all an assurance that come what may our God is able to keep us in THE ARK and even beyond.  And so from the depth of our heart we say to you:
